Quite a bit of text BUT PLEASE READ. PLEASE!!!?

im afraid i wont be able to protect my son from peer pressure

ok... im 19, and i have not tried any drugs or smoking or any of that ****.

but i see the way the world works, and quite frankly, I see myself as a very clear minded person with very strong moral fabric... ever since a stranger was being nice to me as a kid... and i figured he was too nice (I was 7 and my conscience told me to run away). Im glad I did, and am proud of all the right decisions I was able to make even as a kid.

Drugs are more integrated in highschool with each passing year (i know because i see it happen). At first it was the occasional one or two students.... now half the school of any school does weed.

im very afraid and need to know if there will be any clean schools left some 25 years from now when my child is in highschool.

Quite a bit of text BUT PLEASE READ. PLEASE!!!?
No one knows what the world will be like in 25 years. If that time comes and you don't like the schools, you can always home school.

What you can do is to try raise a self-confident child who does not give in to peer pressure. You can make sure you know who your child's friends are.
Reply:education about drugs and building self esteem is the key. teach your children to value themselves. Report It
Reply:Sorry, even that cannot be promised, and you cannot protect your son all the time. But what you can do is pass on your knowledge of the world onto him and trust that he makes the right decisions.
Reply:I don't think there are any clean schools now. You'll raise your child to be smart minded like yourself, it sounds as though your parents have set a good example for how to do that. You can look at alternatives, homeschooling is a great way to keep kids out of messed up schools. In the end, there will always be kids with problems, and there'll always be kids smart enough to stay out of them. The trick is to make sure you equip your child so that he/she can be one of the latter.
Reply:All you can do is the best you can.Tell your child/children the truth about life. The whole truth be honest with them and your self. Children will make mistakes as they grow. YOU will make mistakes as they grow. Humans are not perfect learn from your mistakes and teach them to learn from theirs.Trust them to do whats rite and help them when they have not. And then send them out into the big bad world knowing you have done your best.
Reply:So your 19 and right now do not have any children and are worried that when you do there will be more drug use then there is now.?

Am I right..?

Just because there are drugs around does not mean that your child will do them. You didn't and they are/were around you growing up. They were around me in high school and I never did any..

Teach him right and all you can do is hope for the best.
Reply:you need to count your blessings that you live in the town you do. 6+ years ago when I was in high school I would say 80% of the students smoked pot. that isn’t even the worse part. some of the most popular kids the home coming queen etc were on crank, pills and coke. there were several kids kicked out of school for having guns. (they though they were thugs) not to mention the cheerleader who had sex with the majority of the football team in the bathroom b4 the game. and I live in a very small town. Me and my sister managed to escape our high school years without getting involved in all of that. I guess I don’t really have much to say except you just have to raise your child to be strong.
Reply:You sound like you have a very good head on your shoulders and good morals. Just keep on believing what you believe in and teach that to your children, because of all the peer pressure that there is out there, the pressure from your parents is the strongest and makes the most influences. Make sure you repeatedly tell your children the dangers of drug and alcohol use and that it's not allowed to be used by them until they reach the legal age. I think you will do fine. It's not really something you can control, but, if you keep them informed of the dangers and destruction it causes, they will make the right choices. Good luck.
